  • The great escape : Today I take redundancy!

Well after nearly 20 years service, today is my last day.

Don't feel sorry for me, I've been harassing them for voluntary redundancy since last October, thought I'd never get out as by now they had identified all those who fit the profile to go, I just made it . (Had to get out, its become a desperatly depressing place to work where most of my superiors are largly incompetant)

Going to try to build up my fledgling PC repair business, and study for some formal IT qualifications as at present I'm self-taught.

So its goodbye to aviation, hello to PC's (after I've put my feet up for a week or so as a well earned break )

Happy days.... just got to hang here till around 4pm or so ..... .... then FREEDOM!

I got made redundant about 5 years ago, from the place I had been since school. best thing that ever happened, work-wise. I really enjoyed work a lot more after moving.

I'm getting bored again now, and have my fingers crossed for another redundancy.

Good luck to you. Being made redundant 3 years ago and starting my own business was the best thing that happened to me - hope it works for you

Would that be Shorts Bros Morr?

I had a brief spell under them. They were no worse than FRA, or Airwork, but thats no recommendation.

I was hoping for redundancy (21 years) when my lot relocate south in two years. Sadly I'm a mobile grade so the chances of hell freezing over looks more likely.

Nah, SR Technics. I started off in the Aer Lingus maintenance & engineering dept, serving my time as a mech, we were later hived off into a subsidary called TEAM, then sold to FLS Aerospace, and lastly sold to SR Technics, the former maintenace division of SwissAir.

In my years there I've been a mech on the line & in overhaul, an IT trainer & system troubleshooter and currently work in invoicing, time for another career change

I've actually stopped offering them, too many going missing in the post, too much grief.

But if you ever really need a set, I wouldn't leave you stuck. Have to keep you onboard as I'm not shouting SEARCH so much recently and need you to keep it up on mt behalf
