Just thought I would see if any of you chaps/chapesses, ,
had ever had an Austin Gipsy. I have the chance of one,
(needs a lot of work), but must admit that I do quite like
the look of the thing. Wondered if any of you might have
    an opinion to share.

Apologies for a completely non-surf related post. But, you
    never know unless you ask.

    Cheers,

    Matt

Must admit I'm sorely tempted. Subtly brought it to the wife's
attention earlier by leaving a pic on the monitor of one that I
found on the internet, and once she noticed it asked her what
she thought. Conversation was vaguely as follows:

Wife: You are NOT bringing any junk home unless I look at it
      first.

Me: Excuse ME, but who's the boss in this house?

      Two minutes later:

Me: When would you like to go have a look at it darling?

Just a hard top cab. The rear has been modified with a flat bed
setup. Doesn't look as if the rear has been hacked away, however,
so I assume it must have originally been some type of bed at the
            back.

Just as further info, it's a 1961 model with the diesel engine. That
year would make it a series 2, I think?

That's where I got the pic from to draw the wife's attention
              to it.

Never having seen one of these before today, trying to
decide whether I am liable to love it, or think to myself:
'why do I do this to myself.'

It runs at the first crank, as well.

This pic is the closest looking one that I have found,
                  upto just.

The rear bed is seperate to the cab, however, rather
than part of it, as in the pic.

Pretty much. Imagine a trailer, (without the axle), on a
girder base on top of the box section chassis.
