Scotland!!!!!

got the first two weeks in August in Scotland
been every year since i was born
but i have never seen any of it
always doing the rounds of visits

what is there to do up there?
(apart from paint me grans spare room)

would love to see some of it
will be in Glasgow,Coatbridge and Edinburgh

Most people go up the East coast but I prefer the west coast...have a trip up around Loch Lomond visit Oban...........lotsa scenery

I'm going upto Glasgow to see the Eagles Final Tour in june.

First time up that neck of the woods for me.

We're staying up for a few nights to have a look around.

Would be great if anyone up that way could suggest any nice places to go or see.

if your in glasgow a trip up to loch lomand is worth it, but dont just stop there, carry on up to glencoe and to fort william. there is some stunning scenery up that neck of the woods.

you will do fort william in about 3 hours from glasgow.

you will not be disappointed.

The one that Scotty mentions above is a great drive. Its one that i try doing a couple of times a year at least. Going through Glen Coe is stunning and Fort William is a great little town.

If you're going for scenery, then you really need to do the highlands. As mentioned by DaveD the west coast is outstanding - a trip over to Skye is well worth while.

And in my opinion no trip to Scotland is complete without a visit to a distillery !!

However, if you're not up for that or you don't have time then Edinburgh is a wonderful city. You could easily spend a couple of days wandering around and doing a variety of activities ranging from shopping, visiting the castle and the various museums, including the underground 'ghost' tours, which are a real insight into the history of Edinburgh - see the eye sore that is the Scottish parliament. And taste the fine ales that are available in the many drinking establishments.

Whatever you do I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

On your way up the M6 then M74, take a detour to the amazing Ilse of Arran - it's referred to as Scotland in minature - the north of the island is mountainous, the south rolling fields, it has a distillery (Lochranza). Leave the surf in Ardrossan (the ferry port) foot passage for the day is about £5 return.

You've got to do the festival in Edinburgh! 24 hour non stop activity (and that includes non stop eating & drinking). There are actually 5 festivals in all:

International - top quality orchestras, ballet, opera etc.
Fringe - where you see all the up and coming new comics, plus everythimg else you care to mention
Book - readings & discussions by top class authors
Jazz - covers the complete spectrum
Film - covers every type of movie out there plus premieres.

Plenty od celbs around too if that interests you.
