  • 1st gen with the doors off

    Just found this -

    http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/afertig...es/nodoors.jpg

are they designed to come off easily? Is it legal here??

Live front axle, convertible, now doorless dune buggy, any other reason i should be looking out for one myself???

It must be legal. Postman Pat does it all the time!
Seriously though, it is legal. Until recently you could buy Sherpa vans with sliding doors and even the police dorve them with the doors open in the Summer. Loads of people with Suzuki SJs drive with the top off and what about the Jeep LJ series- they don't have side doors, just flappy things.
    It's only a hobby!

I used to run half doors on my pickup, never had any hassle.

      they were similar to these....

I think they look better with the doors ON, personally...

Less mud splatted in yer face when wheelin'!!
        It just does, OK?

isn't a muddy face a part of the "salisbury look"? I've seen the video from last weekend

If you want a 1st gen for off road use I may sell my 'spare' one . I bought it for parts but it did not have some of wot I wanted on it . I have sold some trim off it and the rear roll bar will be going in my truck . Otherwise would need a little work on suspension (some parts supplied) to get it usable .

            Oh , and an engine . .
I got one , it just is not fitted .

And that (the tube doors I mean) would not be too hard to make if you are handy with a welder and a tube bender. Loks like standard hinges welded onto the tubes and a standard Door latch could be used although it looks like they have used a more simple clasp for it.

You don't work in sales then? Thats the most honest pitch i've ever heard

It would need to replace the one i got as an all rounder rather than a specialist mud plugger, no room for an extra one, cheers though. Spares not easy to come by then? I looked at roughtrax website and didn't see anything. Pretty big 1st gen interest in the states though, i guess it would mean make it or import it.
