  • Brakes squeeking

I have got very squeeky brakes I have checked the fronts and the pads are fine, cleaned them up took some of the shine off them and it stopped for a while, now it is back. Any suggestions on how to stop it, the good thing about it is it annoys the wife so she dont want to drive it.

If it's definately not the wear indicators it could be one of the retaining spring clips is missing. Or you can apply a dab of copper anti seize between brake pad and backing plate which sometimes helps.

Done the copper slip, and the springs are all there, if it was the wear indicators would i get a dash warning?

The Surf isn't that sophisticated I'm afraid- all you get is the squeal of the wear indicators on the disk.

Are you using standard pads? and not those super duper fast road/rally brake pads.

Maybe your discs need de-glazing, or even replacing.
Give them a rub with emery cloth or wet-or-dry paper to remove some of the shine and see if that stops the noise. Also check that the disc stone gaurd isn't rubbing.
Wear indicators will make the squealing noise all the time and not just when the brake pedal is depressed.
