  • What grease for steering idler?

I have bought a steering idler from Roughtrax and it has a grease nipple in the centre but no grease, I sort of thought it would come already greased up but evidently not...
What grease should I use? (and where can I get it from?)

    Thanks.

Any general purpose LM grease from a car spares shop will do.

Okay, I bought the grease and gun.
I attached the gun hose to the idler nipple and filled it with some grease but the air inside the idler just became compressed so I could only put a limited amount of grease into the idler.
I unscrewed the nipple and some grease and a blast of air came out, so I tried again.

Is this normal, are you supposed to fill the idler full of compressed air and a bit of grease or am I doing something stupid?

There should be a vent point to let any excess grease escape. Air is bad - grease is good.

I didn't see an air vent... could it be under the brass cap/top?
This is a new unit, does the cap come off?

              Problem solved

I prised the cap off last night, loosened the bolt underneath and tried again with the grease gun.
It worked, grease was oozing out from every pore!
