my Cam Belt at a very late time!!!

I have spent about 1 1/2 hours striping down my surf ready to change the cam belt, the thing is it was starting to get dark when I started, but it means I have got a good head start for in the morning.

I have taken out the two Batteries, the Sump shield the Radiator housing, the Radiator, the under slung Air con Radiator, the the Viscus Fan and some of the Hoses.

Only about another 3 hours of work to go! Then I will start the the full Service.

I am leaving the Air Con out, so if anyone needs somthing, let me know.

Is the Surf cambelt safe IE no damage on failure or is like a fekin BMW and ends the world Iranian heavy water style?

I got a spare one of them,and its new ish.

Oh and Bobby Doc when you have finished yours pop round here and fit my new cambelt tensioner spring,cos I aint gonna stip my motor down again for a while,unless the spring supplier (vagrant no2) wants the job.Hint hint.

it could cause you a few probs to say the least if it goes!!! dont think theres such thing as a safe engine anymore....

Hello Pops, if you want Tensioner wheel give me a PM for your address and pay for the postage you can have it, unless you can pick it up that is.

Finished changing the Cam belt yesterday.
Changing the Cam belt turnd out to be quite easy, but time consuming taking everything off just to put it back on again is a pain.

I do recomend taking the Batteries and the Radiator off to give you more room, and you don't even have to take the starter motor off to lock the engine on the Auto! To undo the bottom pully, you can unbolt the first two crank pullys and then lock the last pully using a plubmers baison wrench while you undo the 19mm bolt. Tight but reletivly easy.

I had enough time to change oil the three filters and took the rest of the Air Con out.
But you do go through a lot of emotions!!!
