Towing

Has anyone any idea why its a bad idea to tow an automatic ? i've cracked the cylinder head on my surf and i need to to tow it to a garage to get it fixed. I was thinking of putting it in nutrel and getting my mate to tow it.

Any ideas?

Put the transfer box in neutral - that way the autobox will not be driven by the wheels and so will not need the lubrication normally provided by a turning input shaft.

And remove the propshaft.
