    Hi

If you think your surf is fun now, go get it muddy and your see what it can really do

You can put special oil in if you want but the oil recommended by Toyota is SAE 10W-30 API SG. Therefore any old oil. You do need to change the oil every three months and the filter every six months. I buy mine at Costco at £14.95 for 20 litres. You fine loads of people who'll give you advice but your best bet is if your not sure ask on the forum.

      Hi and Welcome

Welcome to the best site on the web. If you ever have a question, no matter how dumb, just ask. I have posted loads of dumbass questions and received nothing but superb help.

...and now I am off to ask another one!

      Cheers

I use long life truck oil in my beast that means i can do about 100000km before i need to change the oil without any ill effects but regular filter changes do still need to be done.

Just make sure you keep a good eye on the water level and get the timing belt changed PDQ its due up for the change at 100k, Milners do filter kits and belts for a reasonable cost. Best to do these things now as preventative maintenance.

Any way hope you have as much fun with the beast as we do.

Welcome to the madhouse John. Hope you enjoy your Surf as much as most of us on this forum do.
You have just reminded me that it is about time I changed my oil. It was last done in August, when I did the cam belt - which is not bad for a spannerphobe. The sound practical advice from the guys and gals on this forum has helped me overcome my fear of getting oily .......and muddy!
          It's only a hobby!
