  • oh joyous day!

went looking for a new vehicle today, and we had our sites set on a vw transporter van. once we got there, we were surprised to find it had been sold 20minutes earlier

so after grabbing an autotrader, we scoured the ads for a substitute, and saw a Hi Lux 2.4d surf! driving home was so much fun, its parked up now and i cant wait to drive in the morning - will be up at the crack of sparrows

our surf is navy blue, 93 and nice and tidy, just like the most of them so it seems after browsing this forum tonight! ( i've been looking for info on the net)

one thing that has emmerged that worries me - dare i ask - is the head problems - didnt know anything about this till tonight, perhaps shouldnt have been so hasty with the purchase! i'm all the way down in corwnwall so repairs could be quite difficult - doesnt it have to go to a specialist - stevo ?? if it goes?

anyway, fingers crossed...will keep browsing this forum as for info and tips on the surf!
    problems? i'll take 'em.

I was the same as yourself when i got my surf , a little bit concerned about the head issues. But have now had mine for coming up a year now and have not had to fork out 1 penny on anything bar the usual running cost that go with any motor. My mind has been put at rest after discovering this site , it's brilliant. Anything you need to know , purchase , how to do it etc , it's all here on this site, you will not find one question un answered for any problems that have been submitted.

      hi slugger

thanks for the reply - that makes me feel a little better! i just want to enjoy the car without worrying the worst that could happen...

incidentally - found this link on here - http://www.showmesome.info/hilux/info/recall.htm

my serial number is LN130/7008794, its not one of the recall ones. is that good or bad?

for now the surf is great, cant wait till tomorrow. if anyone has the contact details of where to get the new head from, just incase, please let me know - many thanks

Mines a 2.4. I've had it two years and done 50,000 Miles (not klicks) since I had it. So they don't all go pop.

they're beautifull beasts arent they? i can see this taking over and becoming an obsession...i was only supposed to buy a van for my kitesurfing school, now i'm beginning to wonder what sort of crazy adventure i've just started off on...

its got its first mission today, taking me to the beach to go kitesurfing. 20knots, overcast, brilliant. actually looking forward to getting out of the wetsuit in the warm comfort of the rear loading bay!
