Do you have the factory steering settings (camber and castor etc) for my 2nd Gen 3.0lt truck???

When the nips fitted my new steering rod in the recal, I don't think they adjusted the steering properly, as she is wearing the front tyres on the insides more than the rest. The thing is, the truck steers in a straight line and I can even let go of the steering, brake hard and she still stays straight. I think this is probably too much Toe-In?? If you have the factory settings, that would be great, as then I can get her in to get the steering adjusted.

oh, and your truck SHOULD veer to the left a little if you brake hard without holding the steering... this is so you pull over to the side of the road automatically.

I think you will find that if the steering is set up how it should be, it should stay straight, even under heavy braking. If it veers over to the left on heavy braking, this would indicate uneven brake balance, which is an MOT failure. It could also mean ploughing into the pavement, full of padestrians.

maybe Hilux is different then for some reason, but i've always understood a slight left-veer to be normal.

edit - just checked this out on a couple of sites and got varying results! some say straight, some say slight veer! ho hum.

might get my brakes checked anyway ;-)

the left hand veer would usually be caused by the camber of the road. Braking should be done in a straight line, read that many years ago in Jackie Stewarts Principles of Performance Driving.

Yep, I'm with TJG on this.

If you want to check your brakes for pulling get on a flat car park or similar or find an empty road and get in the centre where the camber of the road won't pull you about
