  • New surf owner

Just thought I would write in and say i have recently bought a surf. After much thought and chin scratching i can honestly say I love it. Its really just a post to say thanks to all the guys who have written in to this forum and covered every question or concern i have with it. I own a vw campervan and there are similar forums for these but this has got to be the best.

    many thanks again.

would love to but my digital camera is apparently not as reliable as my surf. I am farly new to the world of 4x4 but got to play in a mates four runner a few years ago. I have seen on the net a few 4x4 fun days that I am going to try (when novelty of clean and shiny bright work has worn off). Are there any festivals or events that you guys meet up for? The ones I have seen so far are mainly for landy owners.

I'll keep an eye out for you. Mine's the Dark Blue 2nd Gen that smells like chip fat fryer !!

          solihull surfer

          Watcha mate,
Will keep my eye out for you. mine is the same model and colour.
Dont see many around solihull mostly Range Rover Vogues. Still not brave enough to go down the route of alternative fuels but all power to your elbow for using it. Any advise on a good garage over his neck of the woods? No problems as yet but when I bought it the dealer said it had been given a full service and timing belt change but I'm not so sure myself.

Was going to ask you the same question!!

Haven't found any specialist garages yet, Shirley Van Hire has a good workshop where I took mine for some MOT work. They were good and pretty cheap.

There is a great spares place in Small Heath called 'Birmingham Motor Parts' here is the website:

The owner is really helpful, and stocks pretty much everything to do with the Surfs.

            Have Fun.

              Mot

I usually take my VW campervan to Southdell Garages on Stratford road by wickes for the MOT. As for repair work never really used them for any. Thanks for the link to the 4x4 spares place. My misses takes her yaris to Toyota Uk at star city but think you would be looking at silly money for any work on the surf. Its sad really but the days of the jobbing car mechanics seem to have gone. Most of the guys who keep the campervans on the road around here tend to do the work themselves. Lets face it the mechanics on a1970's air cooled vw are slightly less complicated than a surf.

                  Hey David,

Was that you driving a shiny blue Surf at Lode Lane roundabout yesterday at about 4:50pm. I saw a K reg Surf in dark blue driving past, and the driver had a big grin on his face (don't we all)!

Anyway, if it was you: 1. Where's your star? 2. Nice looking truck!

Fancy that. Seeing your truck on the same day you let us all know you've got a Surf !!

It looks nice. Would look nicer covered in mud !!

The star is what you get after spending £10 of you hard earned on a subscription to this site. There is a sticky thread at the top of the General section.

Most memebers stick it on the windscreen so other Surfers can see you are a member of the Forum.

                      Happy trucking. See you around.
