4wd does not engage

Thanks for the previous advice from earlier thread.I have a 96 ssrg AUTO
which now seems to not be able to engage 4wd at all .After being able to activate with relative ease for a couple of years it has progressivly got worse
in the last couple of weeks.Now the flashing 4wd icon on the dash just
flashes with no activation taking place.Have tried all the advise given ie
changing up and down gears, reverse,turning side to side sharply etc, to no avail !!even low range dos'nt work , which used to be the easiest of all to activate.Fuses are ok ,Am keen on any last ditch advise before Mr Toyota

mine doesnt engage unless I stop then press 4wd. or stop and put it in N and press 4wd that might help.
i can only disengage in Reverse

i had the same problem and it turned out to be my rear tyres where nearly bald and front had loads of tread put 4 new tyres on and it solved the problem. its something to do with the turning distance when you have odd size tyres on. it solved my trouble anyway check it out

I have the same problem, did you get to the bottom of yours & if so can you give me any pointers?
