  • left foot braking

    Is it just me!!!!!

Whenever I drive a manual "sporty" car I always left foot brake when in fun mode.

When I drive an auto (including my surf) I never even think of using left foot for the brake.

    Weired or what?

    Al.
I used to have a surf me!

I almost always leftfoot brake when driving my Mini, 'cos the pedals are too close together and I take size 11 boots.
Leftfoot brake in the Surf and you will bang your head!

My first car (SAAB 96) had a freewheel in the gearbox which meant you had to left-foot brake when cold otherwise the engine died when you took your foot off the throttle.
Since this is how I learned, I still do it, even in non-sporty cars and even when driving an auto (although of course you shoudln't, "except when fine control is required while making low speed manoeuvres").

As long as your left leg gives the same level of control as your right, you're fine, and the only way to make sure it does is to practise! Just make sure you don't need the clutch at the same time

and don't blame me if it all goes oily side up
