  • Winch (for £39.99) Question!

    Right!

Can an electric winch be powered by a vehicle, that is to say, can a 240 volt be powered by a Surf with some adaptor or other jiggery pokery?

If it can be done, Makro are selling a 1000 watt winch that would look and be BRILLIANT on the front of a Surf.

It comes with hand controller and is selling for £39.99 ex VAT!

    200/400KG Load Capacity
    3.6 MM Steel Cable
    12 Metre Cable Length

It even has what looks like a mounting plate!

    Any comments?

You can get rectifiers to well over 1 kw but it would have a much higher startup requirment and would kill the battery.

Have you also thought about using 240v with the SUrf stuck in a pond or something. Still at least it would warm the water up a bit!
Parts of your engine go up, stop then go back! Mm!

I think he was just jesting! 400kg is ok for small stuff but to recover the SURF you need something a lot bigger.

The winch your looking at is really a vertical hoist and not a horizontal winch. You surf weighs 2200kgs and the hoist your looking at has a max pull/lift of 400kgs thats a 1/4 of the weight of your truck. if your in mud or on an incline then the force needed to pull you out is up to double the weight of your truck. You need a winch at least double the weight of your truck eg 2200kg truck you need a 4000+kg winch (9000lbsor above)
either the 400kg winch/hoist would break or the line would snap like a piece of cotton and if you imagine a steel rope snapping with 1/2 a ton of tension on it, it would cut through YOU or your truck like a hot knife through butter.
            BEWARE OF THE REAPER

oooooh someone's being a bit sensitive..... i was pulling ya leg.

The winch pulling capacity has to match or excced the weight you are trying to pull.
