  • Dog Help Required.

OK guys n gals. We are looking for a BEAGLE pup but im not prepared to pay daft money for one. £800 + is average but thats KC registered Pedigree Crufts Championship type Puppies. We have a £500 budget as its only going to be a pet & not for Breeding. Any help would be very much Appreciated.

how bout one from a working background? would have thought a pup from beagle hunt kennels would be cheaper and maybe even a more sound dog...

If you're looking for a pedigree dog, forget looking for one on the cheap. get one from a reputible breeder. You might pay a bit more, but any health and temprament problems associated with the breed should be minimised by any breeder worth his salt. The price difference is not great taken over the lifetime of a dog.

The other thing you can to is contact the breed welfare society who may have some in rescue but I have to agree with Pete - do not be tempted to skimp on the cost as it can prove more costly in the long run with genetic problems and inherited defects. A breeder will supply you a pet quality pup if this is what you request and they are available - I think the chances of a complete litter of show quality pups in any breed is rare, you can expect "defects" such as missing dewclaws or incorrect coat patterns etc which means that the pup will not be show class. Do shop around, look at all the dog info on the net and remeber that you don't have to get the first pup you see!
of course, for £600 or thereabouts you could even get a lovely Spanish Water Dog!

I'll get you one, £300 no questions asked just give me more details of what you want.
Colour, length of coat, amount of legs, full tail or docked, number of ears & eyes. I can get one already chipped as well, saves you doing it.

Also phone around the breeders and see what they got, I have just done this as we wanted another leonberger. Got a lovely 2 year old one from a breeder that she was looking to home due to not being able to breed from her.
