  • Side Steps, On Or Off?

    Hi All,

Was staring at the Surf recently and wondered if I should take the side steps off!

They look pretty easy to remove but has anyone, that has done it, regretted it?

I know it's personal choice etc. but surely there are practical implications etc. getting in and out for one, and I guess washing the roof would then require a set of steps!

Who thinks that they look better off?

Can anyone post a before and after pic please?

    Thanks,

    Gary

P.S. My Surf is in for MOT and major service tomorrow so I am sailing across to bonny Scotland on the 04.15 from Larne and back that night on the 23.59 from Cairnryan!
The things I do for that ****** vehicle!

They look better with the side steps off....immediate visual lift.
When Tony came here with the Bullet I was searching for spanners until The Woman I Sleep With told me something else was coming off if the steps did..

Have a look in the gallery there must be pics with and without....

You wash the Roof too! Man you spoil that Surf

Remove the steps, fit a lift, nobody will get to see your roof then, save you the bother of washing it.

Personally I prefer the look without the steps, I want to remove mine, but can't untill I come up with an alternative (ie sliders) so Samantha can get in!

Personally I prefer them off, here are some pics of them off:

I haven't any pics of them on at the moment, but who needs 'em? Yes they are handy for reaching the roof, but IMO that's all.

I'll have to go over them with a dustbuster.

it all depends if you want to go off road properly and if you use them often.
I use mine almost everytime i use my surf, I would love to remove them, but I think strapping my canoes/bikes to the roof afterwards would be really hard work without them. Then again, I tend to stand in the doorways rather than the steps... now you've got me thinking....

definitely the surf looks better without.

                    Nice wheels guys!

Methinks you all seem to prefer the "nekid" look!

My Surf has a 3" lift so I guess it wont look too bad!

Will mean lifting kids in and out "manually" though!
