Tell you what, these are great off road. I have had a couple of new Jimnys over the years and off roaded them both. An SJ tricked up like this will go where landrovers fear to tread.

                  Nice one.
I used to have a surf me!

Thats what my mate said last night when he seen it..

To be honest that is why i bought it..

He told me these go along track ruts where bigger vehicles like surfs, range rovers etc find it auckward but these just p1ss it due to the wheel base not being as wide..

The only good thing is i wont be tugging out Land Rovers that get stuck.. lol...

He's right. I once passed about 12 landy's on my way up great whernside in a howling gale and lashing rain. The landys could go no further but I made it as far as it was poss to drive a vehicle up the slope. As nimble as a mountain goat them Jimnys and I dare say the SJ is equally capable. Its down to lack of weight and the narrow wheelbase/track as your pal has suggested.

                      Have fun dude.

once you've done the engine swap you'll be able to go up slopes too!

lots of different converions have been done... KSP was going for a 1.9 peugeot diesel (i think)... i've got a 2.0 petrol ford motor in mine.
good thing is, you can cut bits off to make bigger engines fit!!

did you really pay that much for it? or did your finger slip?
