Wondering if anyone has owned a Chevrolet Blazer.
Dimensions are about the same as the surf 3.0td but with a stonking 4.3 V6.
I wonder how they would compare on road, i dont do off road.
As for fuel economy i dont think the blazar could be much worse than the Surf.
I think a 4.3l on LPG would beat the Surf,s MPG.

You'd spend a fortune on spares, and it won't last as long as the Surf.

A quick search says that a Blazer V6 get around 16mpg urban, and around 21 on a run.

      Verses a 3.0's 25 urban/30 on a run.

A good LPG system will generally get 10% less mpg that the engines petrol mpg figure, so I reckon they will end up about the same costs to run. But, you've the price of a LPG kit to factor into the cost as well.

My opinion..... Get a 3.0 Surf, or a get older V8 blazer and shovel money into the tank, but enjoy the fun!!

I hired a chevvy blazer 4.5 V6 for a month in Colorado/arizona/utah about 5 yrs ago. It made a lot of noise - nice V6, but didnt seem to have much power and was slow up hills and overtaking, even with kickdown etc. Not sure if it had been de-tuned, but was so sloooowww compared to a 3.0 TD 4runner.

I drove one across the canadian rocky's in 2003. from calgary to vancouver. It was a trailblazer in fact but had the same engine I believe. It had every creature comfort you could think of. Build quality seemed very solid and it performed very well indeed. Mind you, it was middle of summer and perfect weather conditions.

When I was on holiday in California about 4 or 5 years ago, we hired one for a week or so. We drove from Las Vegas to Death Valley, Yosemite, South Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Napa Valley, San Francisco, Monterey and back to San Fran. I vaguely remember access through the rear doors being slightly restricted and that it was quite slow and noisey. I think this was because most of our driving was in 35-55 deg C heat, and the fan was always locked in solid! Aircon was f*****g good though!

BTW, that totalled about a 1000 miles of living out of a Blazer and I didn't really have any complaints, but my dad was driving not me...

had one in the States as a rental - was slow and noisy and under braking it was all over the place. The cabin was great though.

The small blazer (S10 model) is a pile of Sh**e. Now if we were talking full size Blazer K5 then we are talking seriously good beast. Small one's engine is not good, reliability problems, spares cost. Also overall build quality is up to 1970s British Leyland quality, electrics are awful and the trim falls off if you look at it.

Shame really as it is quite a nice looking beast really and should be a good package.

Surf is much better with better fuel economy (although as you say LPG would even it up somewhat).
