I have been resting my Surf since Sat 21st. I have been using my Defender 2.5 N/A diesel TUM FFR since then for work. It has got a 18 gallon (80ltr) tank. Usually the Surf gets me to work and back for 5 days before she is on 1/4 tank and costs about 45quid to fill. I got 7 days out of my Defender until she got to 1/4 tank, and cost me about 58quid to fill. Working it out I think she is slighty less thirsty than the Surf. But consider that it's a Military truck which is low geared, and weighs more, I don't think that's bad going. The 300TDI engined Defenders do about 30-32MPG. But, you don't get the luxury that you do with a Surf. Haven't even got a radio in mine. You wouldn't hear it anyway with the transmission noise.
