February 2006 4x4 Mart p37
Vaux Monterey vs Surf
Surf 3.0td output of 123bhp aided by a highly useful torque figure of 218lbs/ft at a mere 2000rpm(which is major geekness and total greek to me)
...........later on... top speed of 93mph and a liveable-with 16.3 seconds to reach 60
I thought the 93 was a bit low,and I'm pretty sure I could beat the 16......
to be honest I hardly look at the speedo I just give it some welly.......

On my 3.0l the govener kicks in at just below an indicated 110mph, an indicated 105mph is 103mph on the GPS so actual top speed is probably about 105/6 mph - at 105 it feels fine and stable enough for me to be looking at the GPS - this is all on private roads off course
People keep trying to tell me the Surf isn't a sports car; rubbish what do think the S in SUV stands for, and its so much more fun hasseling the boy racers in the Surf than it ever was in my Alfa.

Tyres should be OK – S rated Yokahamas, top speed is one of those things you just have to try, I don’t make a habit of running around at that sort of speed – apart from any thing else I swear you can see the fuel gauge dropping. Brakes are a good point; mine seem to be up to one good stop, maybe two but try three and they start to judder – presumably the discs warping, I’ve seen a couple of people mention they have grooved disks do you think there any better ,where did you get them?
