on my dasboard thers a switch saying normal/hard,ive tried it on both settings and it dosent make a bit of differance.

You should notice a difference when using the selection on motorways it will cut down on the wallowing otherwise you might find there could be a fault in the switch or the shocks

Does the light on the dash light up when you switch it to hard.
May be the suspension has been changed for after market ones and it no longer works???

check too see iff there are wires dangling near top of rear shocks

If they are adjustable they should look like this (Not on the bench obviously :-
