  • Someone selling MY website on ebay!!!!

Just been informed that an ebay seller is selling a CD with hilux surf information on it, a big chunk of which is my entire website converted to a PDF!!!!

    What a weasel!

"there are even plans on how to build and make your own accessories for example a motorcycle carrier or a boot load box"

yeah, plans that I wrote and that are freely available on the web!

I hope you have contacted the seller. Maggots like that make me sick. Too lazy to do their own work and happy to make a quick buck off somebody elses.

I hope you are going to have him for breach of copyright.
    It's only a hobby!

Any materiel written by you is automatically copyright. And can only be reproduced with your permission, regardless of whether it is freely available on the net or anywhere else. I think you should write an email to this guy advising him that if he doesn't withdraw the information he is selling, you will take legal action!!

You need to ask for more than that mate. Why should this guy make money on the back of your work???

If it was me, I would make sure he withdrew the materiel I wrote, and if he didn't would seriously go after him. If he agrees to name you as the source of the materiel, and gives you half the royalties, then that might be acceptable, if not, SUE him!!

Well, this seller was suddenly not selling anything for the last couple of days (and normally sells loads via automated scripts) which I took to mean that perhaps his account was suspended while ebay investigate a complaint (not from me, from the guy who told me about this).

But he is now back selling and guess what - selling my website again! No reply to my email, nothing. And it turns out that to report a copyright infringement to ebay you have to print off a two-page form, sign a declaration and fax it to ebay - how **** is that?

So, anyway thats what i have done...

Good luck . I have had several problems with buying stuff from ebay and the villian aways gets away in my personal experience I hope that your own hard workis not abused for much longer.

Why not not use the same technique as used on Mr Ball Bearing? Run an ad showing the information is free on your website, and noting the presence of plagiarists on Ebay

How about sending the pr!ck a few hundred emails, courtesy of the forum members, asking him if his item is a rip-off of codlords' site?

                          Guys
I'm from the Aussie Surf Site. That just sucks. Try to help someone and some low live tries to make a buck out of it.
Just hope no one bids on the low lives auction.

                            ATTN: Codlord

Now you've brought this up you have reminder me...

I bought a CD off ebay last January, When I first purchased my Surf, I hadn't found this site or yours onthe net and was browsing Fleabay.. there was an ad for Surf workshop manual and epc disks on Cd for sale. if i remember correctly it was about £14.00

When i found your site and this one I just presumed you were selling a copy of your site on CD. Didn't bother me at all that it was free on the net, I'd probably never of found it!!

Was this you selling the cd or has someone been ripping your site off for a while.

Will copy the cd and send it to you if it'll help

email, Joe_Thomas@orange.net and let me know!!

No, I have never sold my website or anything from it.

If someone was selling the manual/epc stuff (even if it was downloaded from my site) I wouldn't have a problem - I don't own the copyright and it probably shouldn't even me on the site from a legal standpoint. However, it looks like the contents of this CD are *JUST* my entire website (including the manual) downloaded and converted to PDF. This I have a problem with.

The guy has not really sold many and he does not get more than 2 or 3 quid for them but its still well out of order.
