When registering a vehicle, it can't be given a newer number than the age of the vehicle. My truck is a 1994, but was registered here last year (only been in country about 5 months). That means that I should have a 05 registration.
Something has gone wrong here. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole....
dunno... my mates kit car was based on an old escort / cortina but he registered it as brand new after the SVA instead of a Q plate... doesn't need an MOT for 3 years either!
Mine comes up on the AA registration check but that baby doesn't. It might not be on the database if it is recently registered. I would buy with caution.
I just noticed this too:
I ACCEPT CASH, BANK TRANSFER OR CHEQUES WHICH MUST CLEAR FIRST. WINNING BIDDER TO CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY UPON WINNING THE AUCTION. ANY UNDUE DELAY IN CONTACT OR PAYMENT WILL RESULT IN ME OFFERING THE ITEM TO THE NEXT HIGHEST BIDDER. DEPOSIT BY PAYPAL EXPECTED ONCE AUCTION ENDED. BALANCE ON COLLECTION OF VEHICLE.GOOD LUCK!

i'd want a deposit and then cleared funds.

He's done well to get away with that! I'm building a kit car, and the only way you can register it as brand new is if all the "main" parts (chassis, steering, engine etc) are new. If you can argue that 4 out of 5 are from the same car, you can get an age related plate, otherwise it's a q plate you're stuck with.
However the people checking this little lot work in the offices at the local dvla centre, not a mechanic or MOT test centre, so they often have little clue what they're looking for.
cheers,
Mart
PS. Something very fishy about the truck on fleabay.

i think so too.??
More like its been imported into uk and registered due to it being a ringer.??
AFAIK, this should have a 1996 plate, corresponding to the year of manufacture, not the year of registration, because it will not be "declared new at time of first [UK] registration".
Not on the register 3 years after registration? That seems remarkably inefficient, even for DVLA.
