  • Halfords are vvankers

Stood for 15 minutes at the parts desk. The customer in front of me enquired had they roof bars for a '98 escort estate. The child behind the desk (not having them in stock) proceeded to ring around the city to find someone who he might refer the customer on to. All the while he rang and got put on hold for 5 minutes at a time he just stared at the aisles with a concerned mush on him, avoiding eye contact with anyone who might ask him a quick simple question.

The geek eventually after operating the switchboard for a half hour asked me was I ok, I said I wanted a rear oil seal, he said he would have to order it in!

That sounds about right mate with Halfords.!!

About 4 years ago i purchase a Disklok which i think was around £89.99p back then.??

I paid for it in full as they had to order me one in, they told me it was coming from one of the other local branches in on the next day.!!

So i left it untill late the next day to pick it up just incase it was late.?? lol..

So i went in, went to speak to the customer service desk, who had no clue about it at all.????? in other words it hadn't come in.!! the chap i spoke to was on his day off.!! I showed them the reciept that i had payed for it, and they said they could not do a thing untill the chap that i was dealing was back in the next day.!!!

So i went back the next day to see him where he was now on holiday for 2 weeks and would have to wait untill he got back.!!!!!

    So i BLEW MY TOP.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I demnded i wanted an answer from the shop floor manager Right Now.!!

He said he would have to order me one in again, but i told him we had already done that.!!!!!

So after a heated debate after 10 mins and me wanting a full refund plus my fuel costs to cover for me to keep coming in, he agreed he would go to the Shirley branch in Birmingham and pick it up and deliver it to me in person to my house where he did and they even gave me £7.50p back in fuel expenses.!!!!

    TOO F***ING RIGHT MATE.!!!!!

So i know what you mean.???

      not just halfords...

I had an mot done on my surf, 14th of december 2005, ended up ordering the bits myself and having them delivered to my local garage, then they got me two exhausts, both of which were wrong so I ordered the exhaust as well via phone from the departure lounge of birmingham airport as I was going away.

came back off holiday took my surf home and god knows what they did to the steering but it was undriveable, yet it had passed the mot???
they wouldnt have it back in till 3rd jan, then finally I could drive it.

except when I looked in the boot it was full of oil as they had been using it to transport engine bits. oh yes, and it was covered in building dust, as the chippy next t the garage was being done up.

      nice

full credit to milner off road for their speedy and accurate delivery

I used to work in Halfords

No training, no structure, just loads of teenagers (I was myself at the time) given the right to go an pull people's cars about, under the guise that they are 'professionally fitting'.

How may radio codes need to be lost, how many immobilisers immobilised, how many stereo surrounds scratched and dented, before someone does something?

Disclaimer: Halfords may have changed since I last worked there. This view is personal and no representive of everyone's opinion. Don't sue me please. Cheers.

There are still loads of excellent small car parts places about. they know their stuff and look after their customers. They may be a few pence more, or take a bit more finding, or be harder to park at than halfords, but if we don't make the effort to use them then there will only be halfords left. With no competition and even less motivation to do a good job.

No offence but if you use halfords out of choice then you probably deserve the service you get.

(of course if the local parts factors in your town have already go under then you are pretty well up **** creek already)

                Too right about Halfords,
They are utter imbeciles.I wanted a part which was on display in a counter but they said they would have to order it in, i said i would take the
display one but they said no then told me that they were discontinued and i couldn't have one at all. I went mad and got the manager out. It just looked at me and said it would find me one from one of the other stores....i gave up waiting after a month.
                Supreme morons.

You shouldn't have a problem, if you know what you want. If you go into a place unsure, chances are you will get the wrong bits!!

That sounds like one of my George Bush quotes hehe. I knew what I wanted, he just was afraid to ask me and hoped I would go away while he was listening to hold music.
