That's someone on here advertising to stop other people getting ripped off!

I haven't done the mod myself, yet, but will be trialling it v soon.

Don't think it'll make a massive difference to a tankful, but every little helps!!!
      It just does, OK?

The arrow is pointing to the nozzle on the EGR that the rubber pipe was disconnected from. Bend rubber pipe in half and keep it bent with a cable zip tie as in the pic at the other end of the arrow.

I downloaded a useful bit of software which works out your mpg for you - the link was on a thread here somewhere (I bet Bushwacker will know/find it - it may even have been his thread, I can't remember - Vince?).
Anyway it says you are returning just over 23mpg
                  If you're gonna have one ...... have a good'un!

what does it actually do in real world terms? more power, less emissions, better mpg?

I'm going to give it a go in the morning.

More power is debatable and I would say " not really"
Better MPG ???? Again not significant
Emissions is the key to this one.
You are no longer sucking in exhaust, now that is a good move!
Removing the inlet manifold and giving it a clean is a good move too as it will have a good build-up of crud in there from years of blow-by mixed with carbon rich exhaust. There are ways to clean the manifold in-situ but I would reccomend that it is removed and properly descaled.
The tie-wrap or ball bearing trick is only effective if the EGR is properly closed.
The more effective method is to fit a blanking plate between the EGR and the manifold. I have.

Trying to keep it simple, the EGR lowers combustion temps by mixing a little exhaust gas with the fuel mixture to give lower NOx emissions. Blocking it lets the engine burn pure air/fuel therefore less smoke under load, a little more power and higher combustion temperatures.
