Snow has all but melted away round here. I was hoping for a repeat of 1963. People could drive then and just got on with it. I just remember it. The snow was on the ground from Boxing Day until March. In some places it didn't thaw properly until May.

EARLY WARNING of Heavy Snow and Drifting Snow Issued by the Met Office at 10:57 on Wednesday, 28 December
OVERALL RISK ASSESSMENT: The probability of disruption due to severe weather conditions in part of the United Kingdom within the next 60 hours is 80 percent.
This is the first warning of disruption due to Heavy Snow and Drifting Snow.
The Met Office is expecting a band of heavy snow, accompanied by fairly strong winds, to move across the United Kingdom, from the west, during Thursday and Friday. This will turn to rain with time, more quickly in the west, with rain more likely throughout near south facing coasts. Temporary accumulations of 2- 5cm are expected to occur quite widely, with perhaps more than 10cm over some higher ground in the north, where drifting is likely. Some disruption to travel is quite likely.
Western areas will be affected by this weather event on Thursday, and eastern parts on Friday, with 3 to 6 hours of snow likely in places before milder conditions bring persistent rain and a rapid thaw.
This warning will be update by 1000 tomorrow, Thursday 29th December 2005, unless it is superseded by the issue of flash messages.
They said that their page will be updated by 10:00 today and they are late. They are public servants, paid for by our taxes, so I guess this is alright then. They will get to retire 7 years before us workers, after shuffling bits of paper all their lives. I'm glas I live in the most just and fair country in the world. :RANT OFF:
I reckon I got out of the wrong side of my bed this morning.
