  • Remote oil filters

I realised I had posted this question on the wrong forum, , so here it is where it ought be.

Anybody have any experience of remote cartridge oil filters? Any good? any U.K suppliers of such? Are they worth the hassle? Examples of the type, (high flow or dual flow), are:

They appear to be worth the effort.

Thought about it... at some length...

Still thinking... haven't done anything about it...

I saw something in the NWOR catalogue...

Good find with those links though... that is an old friend... B16A2... baby....

I thought it might have been slightly off topic for the 2.4 forum, with it not being a specific
        model feature.

For several reasons, interested am I. (Yoda impression).

        1) Higher throughput and better filtration.

        2) General absence of 'filter bypass' under load.

        3) They look bl**dy gorgeous.

I like that install of the remote filter and cooler, very tidy...

same principal as some of us have done with the trans coolers, with the added ease of use of the remote filter...

I wonder if the pressure bypass happens with the Surfs...?

i wondered on the 3rd gen yow it doesn't just collect the gunk and tip it back into the engine!...

(it's mounted on the top rhs pointing downwards)

i guess the japs know best!

Which one is that on? I must have missed that bit. Scrub that question. Found it.

Lot more accessible, and probably less messy, on the filter changes. What is the trans cooler
mod? Is that the radiator above the bash plate?

As far as I know, yes.

The problem with the general oil filters is that the manufacturers tend to have the opinion of:

Any oil is better than no oil.

That is why the bypass exists. It is also there in case the filter gets clogged. So a lot of the
crud in the filter/engine can actually get recirculated under extreme conditions.
