Just read an article in 4x4 Magazine. Apparently Parliament are onto a third reading of the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Bill.
This bill virtually eliminates motorised use of Britains unsurfaced road network!! and therefore many roads considered as greenlanes will be closed.
Once again extremist ramblers have to be thanked for their inconsideration and greediness to other users [horse, trials, and 4x4]
'The new law will ban all recreational vehicles from all rights of way (ROW) not already recorded on the definitive map as a Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT).

So much for co-operation by holding of on putting in petitions during the reclassification process...the only ones who didnt hold off petitioning are the ramblers....[and yes I used to go rambling as a youngster and its about shared access]
The government seem to have backed down from their previous stance of supporting basic public rights and are pressing local authorities to carry out their legal duty to simply removing the rights of access
