The 2nd hook at the back of the front tow hook was only fitted to Asian market cars and is for tying the car down when there is a danger of typhoons or flooding.

The 2 eyes welded to the chassis at the back end are also tie downs. UK 4Runners have a different tow hook without the tie down and no rear chassis eyes.

Elvz, we have a big tow hook that bolts inside the chassis rail and comes down level with the rear bumper on one side, and the normal lashing eye on the underside of the chassis rail on the otherside.

Have to lose the big hook when fitting a tow bar.

Was checking out my surf (91 ssr ltd)other day and the bolts on front chassis member for tow hooks my are not m12x1.25's. I was wondering if any one would be able to tell me what the standard bolts are.I think they prob r m14 or similar as m16 too big and m12 to small......also if anyone can give me some pointers on what to fit to the rear as tow hooks that drop down below bumper it'd b much appreciated.
