been having trouble with gearbox and now got all forward gears but cannot get reverse to work, reverse beeper kicking in but no actual motion.. any ideas??

Maybe the position of the lever into the autobox needs adjusting. Look at the drivers side of the autobox under the car and you'll see there is a means of adjustment via a screw and locking nut.

Also check that old 'chestnut', the Hi-Lo lever is in 'gear'
but Nevilles sugestion is plausible.

tried those two, no effect.. bugger.. anymore ideas??? was a sudden failure it didnt slip beforehand.
