if yours is multi region then it will play... we're region 2 but you'd have to check what australia are... but some dvds are multi region 2... i.e. just looked on one ad it says Regions: 2+4 UK PAL... think Japan is region 2 though.

Most players if not already multi-region can be unlocked using a series of keypresses on the remote and/or unit.

OK, sittin here in work, cleared all my workload but the boss don't know so time on my hands .....

A quick google, led to a forum and some downloads wherin I found this info......

You have to download this file, and follow the instructions

                    http://sd220e.chez.tiscali.fr/
                    http://sd220e.chez.tiscali.fr/sd220e.rar

With this file you have to burn a CD and play it on the DVD player.

                    1. Download the rar file at the link above.
                    2. Unpack it using WinRAR.
                    3. Start Nero Burning ROM, click File, click Burn Image..., select the .cue file, click open, disable 'Determine maximum speed' and 'Simulation', at write method select Disc-at-once (this is very important), click write.
                    4. Push setup on the SD220e remote control, select under picture:
                    PAL/Auto: Auto. Push setup again.
                    5. Open your SD220e disc tray and insert the CD.
                    6. Close the disc tray.
                    7. The disc will be read and recognised as a VCD, you'll see the image on your television flash and after a short while you will not see any image at all. Wait about 10 seconds and take out the CD.
                    8. Your player is now region free.
Continuing to look for an easier (ie using remote control) reveals that toshiba's tend to be difficult to unlock, and cannot gererally be done by the normal simpler methods.

Unfortunalty the link at the start of the instructions appears to be dead, perhaps a search for the file using p2p would be successful??

Ok, found it, you can get the file from http://www.geocities.com/its_yahell/sd220e.rar , its a .97mb download.

Don't forget you'll need WinRar or similar to unzip this file (winzip won't do it), you can get a trial version of WinRar from http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar351.exe or there are other free utilites available elsewhere.

Guys I'm looking at this and it is really doing my head in. I've looked at the sites supplied and half are in French and the other is all about un-packing files etc. I haven't got a fu****g clue what all this computer language means.
