  • Free Wheel Hubs

Does anyone have free wheel hubs fitted to their 2nd Gen truck. I want some on mine to stop front drive train wear. I would like a really good set like Warn etc. Anyone have part numbers and a rough idea on price?

    Cheers

    Has any one got these?

I've got AVM.They were A$240. If you look up the Warn application chart at the link you supplied then this is the ones you need.

      Pickup, Hilux, 4-Runner, with ADD '86-95 - 26 spline, Part number 28761

Thanks for that mate. Have you got a link for these AVM ones? Are they easy to fit?

AVM 413 is the part number for the Surfs. Not sure where to get them over there. Try a search for AVM hubs.

Aisin, I think are the best but very expensive.Maybe you can pick up a used set from an IFS 4 Runner.

            Thanks mate.

Frog Island stock these hubs. I've just got off the phone to the owner and he said he imports these hubs. Are they any good?

Yeah, we fitted some to Linda's truck. We got used Aisins as they are bomb proof, but as Nev said they are plenty spendy to buy new. AVM's are OK for what you want, but the outer silver body corrodes quickly, give them a spray with clear laquer before installing them. Also use plenty of copperslip on the small allen head bolts and don't over tighten them as they are a bugger undo without the tiny allen key rounding out the bolt.

Warn and Superwinch hubs are OK as well, not as cheap are the AVM's, cheaper than Aisins but stronger than AVM's.

The strength is only an issue with lockers and low gears, any manual hub will be fine for what you need.
