not really a surf question

i have nephew with a Lreg 1.8TD mondeo it smokes on tickover but clears when you rev it he has been told it is the diesel pump but any suggestions would be great i have told him to get a surf but he just cant afford one at the moment cheers

Check air filter , change fuel filter , and the same as Surf with 1/4 tank diesel with a whole tin of diesel treatment . And then drive it like you stole it , or park it in my road and someone will .

Should clear it out , or get the injectors and pump done as they dont last long on them anyway before refurb.

I agree. I had Mondeo TD with 178,000 miles on and needed a damn good thashing with cleaner in it to stop initial smoking. Worked well untill cam belt snapped!!!
