Name that tool

i call them "easy outs"... don't know the proper name, they're for when you snap a bolt, you drill the centre, wind one of these in and when it gets tight, the bolt comes out (in theory)

looked in the online tools stores but don't know the name, so can't find them!!

they're a bit like a threading tap/die (neber know which is which!) tool, but in reverse.

nah, stud extractor is for removing studs... with part of the stud exposed to grip...
these are for broken bolts that are below or flush with the surface.

but they are ****, quite often just expand the the thread your trying to extract and tighten it up till you snap them, use the smallest one you can get away with.

they are great it means you can drill a hole in a mild steel bolt and fill it with really really hard steel that also breaks off flush.. and i've always called em stud extractors... or ####in monkey###er waste of ###in time

drill it out and retap or helicoil it damm sight easier

yeah, but drilling out means i have to drill a straight hole... so that means a 20 mile drive to the workshop!

they should do it, the bolds have sheared off, not snapped so not rusted in.

can you not get a dot punch in and just tap it out??? never have to use stud extractors. if you damage the top of the thread a little when you do it just give it a quick seeing to with a countersink bit

by the way taps are for making the female thread< nutty bits ><probably why is called female> and die's the male
