Tim, the black wire also connects to the gold coloures terminal on the lamp body . Those are your earth return wires . If you fit the 100watt bulbs you will need to upgrade that black wire . The red is OK as only the 5watt side light . There needs to be a cable for the spot bulb , making a total of 3 .
