I think the 2.4 tank holds 65ish litres, so that works out as 24mpg which I would say is excellent.Last edited by BUSHWHACKER; 9 November 2005, 12:49.

Ive managed nearly 600kms (375miles) to a tank, and im pretty sure my tank is 55litres.
It averages out, give or take a bit at 32mpg or in Euro terms 11kms per litre.
This was done on french roads not motorways as I had a dodgy cylinder head at the time. I use straight diesel with no additives.
I drive very carefully and cruise at 55-65 everywhere on Bridgestone H/Ts
I also have to add that my surf has absolutely nothing on the front like bull bars or spots, but on the aformentioned french roads I was driving with a kayak on the roof.
I would say 24mpg is fairly poor if you are just driving around, but towing and driving the surf hard then thats pretty good.
its amazing the difference driving carefully makes to the fuel consumption.
My last car was an MR2, cruise at 70mph and it was really good, cruise at 120-130mph and the economy was halved. but even when it was halved it was not much less than i get now in the surf.she's no angel

Sure you don't mean 330km? The odometer read's in km's (330 miles = 550km).
Many converted speedos read in miles,ie the electronic conversion,or the type fitted with a little gearbox.its the tank size that i find difficult,my'n seems to be about 50 lts may be 55lts,dont want to run out of fuel to prove it
