I asked recently how much glow plugs would cost me for my 94 SSR-X Hilux surf, I've been quoted £85 plus vat, this seems a little expensive to me!

Also i've been told by someone else that i dont need them as my car is direct injection, anyone shed any light on these subjects, for a novice Hilux driver who knows nothing about engines etc?

I think that price you were quoted was for injectors. glowplugs are only about a fiver each. as yes you do need them in your truck.

especially as its not direct injection... they are thinking of landcruisers

im pretty sure mine just spray all over the place....
still the Surfs in the garage today having new injectors from DieselBob and glowplugs from roughtrax and hopefully having its prop looked after. It wobbles like jelly on a seesaw at 50mph so im guessing a UJ is knackered.
