not critiscising, but.... would it be better in the bottom DIN slot?... would avoid blocking the heater and cup holder then.

but apart from that... "good job fella!"

      Hi,

I've got an AVIC-X1 in my Surf too - great system IMO although the radio tuner could be better. I thought about putting mine in the bottom DIN but the screen would be too low in that position. Even with it in the top DIN, it only blocks the heater controls, and not the vents - so not really and issue.

Kiowa, I notice that you weren't able to get the plastic surround on the head unit either

Out if interest, where did you put the hide away unit and what did you connect the reverse signal to?

Here's a forum you may find interesting: http://www.avicx1forums.com/

          Thanks for the info Kiowa.

I tried running my reverse cable to the reverse buzzer behind the dials on the dash but it didn't work, so I think I may have to plumb it in to the rear cluster as you did. Like the idea about gluing the surround too. I tried using white-tac, but it didn't really work.

Anyway, nice to see someone else with the same system... I also got the iPod connection for mine and am really pleased with it. Currently saving my pennies for the reversing camera and TV tuner

This is the Sat Nav that was fitted in mine, but for some reason didn't work.
Well, mabe it was cos the cable was cut and stuffed down the back of the dash!
But the garage said "it worked when we had it!"

You have to feel sorry for some people.
                  He said Sat Nav
I say Digital Compas with intergrated external Temperature
                  He said Working
                  I say Wa###r

I can put power on a few of the wires and I get to know that North is in front of me, whichever way I am facing!

Nope, but if you hit it, it goes off!
