It'd pull it no trouble, I've towed many Surfs around on trailers behind our Surf, but how legal it is another issue.

I've only found one Austrailian site on the whole web that lists a max towing weight for Surfs, and that is 1500kgs. But US 4runners are rated at 5000lbs, which is about 2200kgs.

Best tow car ever. I tow a twin axle Baily with a all up weight of 1500 kgs and it does not even know it is there

SUrf is great for towing although my 2.4 needs a bit more puff for stuff like this, although if you keep your speed up its great
