  • A little help for a newbiw

    New to this forum and have a Toyota Hilux Surf 2.4 td SSRX, 1994. Had it 6 months. Reading through the posts, what generation model is this ? we did have to get the cylinder head replaced. is this common in this yearly model and what's the best way of prevention in the future ? Also lookingon the forums i'm after a manual. Have the handbook but want a more in depth one to help with mechanical problems . any advice on where to get one from for my model ? saw a post with a link to haynes australia .
    http://www.haynes.com.au/category167_1.htm
    is it the top manual to buy about the engine ? any other detailed manuals ?
    Thanks for any advice in advance.

      cylinder head is a known problem on all 2.4 of any age,

      As Above - Providing the head is the modified one your truck is pretty much unbreakable! and yes its 2nd gen upto the end of nov 95 (might be the beginning of dec)

      as for manuals... Haynes don't do one for the surf.. the closest match i've found is the 4runner version.. this site is the best manual youll find anywhere.. there isn't much the guys on here don't know about

            Marky in a previous post;
            These heads have been redesigned due to a design fault with the waterways near the Valve Seats being to close to the heads surface.

            If you use the search button and type in cylinder head....you'll find out aaaaaaaallllllll about it they dont all go.....
