  • fuel injection pump renewal.

hi guys, ive finaly managed to get hold of a fuel pump for my 2.4,i was going to attempt to change it myself,i have done a search in this forum and it doesnt seem to be to bad to do,but i have no experience with this pump so any advise would be greatly appreciated,do you need to reset the throttle control switch if so how?OR on the other hand should i leave it to some one with the specialist equipment to do the job.

There should be some notches/marks on the pump and the engine casing to set the timing.

There is a timing mark here - - along with a corresponding mark on housing. A mirror comes in handy for seeing these. The other timing marks are on pump sprocket and housing.

There seems to be a lot of Toyota fuel pumps packing up on this forum. Are they designed on the Bosch fuel pump?

A fuel pump is a very reliable peice of kit, and should last the life of the engine, so why are all these fuel pumps breaking?? I would be interested to know if all you guys that have had a pump go on them have been running Veg oil in your trucks??

The surf pump is a nippondenso bosch copy.
I have a leak and have used a large percentage of svo in my surf, i`m going to try the millers seal kit first as a rebuild is between £750 and £1300.

Hi angry, it may be worth you getting some kind of heat exchanger plummed into your system, fuelcat etc, on the aussie site they are blaiming low sulpher diesel but not in your case.
