Black Smoke Cloak??

Hello All

Whilst trawling through the HiLux pages on Ebay, I came across a seller who was advertising the MIRACLE cure for Black smoke output on HiLUx's. Has anyone purchased this product? If so did it work? The information gleened from the ad would suggest that you insert a small ball bearing somewhere? maybe the inlet/outlet to the EGR valve?

its a con just take the pipe off the egr bend it over and use a cable tie to tie it

Cheers for that info. Does tieing the EGR pipe work? ie stop the smoke. If it does work, a) why have an EGR valve in the first place, and b) is there any detrimental effect to running the engine without the pipe connected??
