Hi just a daft one with all the sensors on a surf (h reg 2.4 ssr) I saw someone on about a crank sensor? would this show if the big ends are shot as I have been told they are but not convinced
she has droped a bit of oil presure there is a knock from the top end number one piston (sounds like something between piston and the head)
and you need to wear a gas mask if you are brave enough to start her as the smoke is unbelieveable but nothing on the dash board to give me a clue

Just a guess but it sounds like the timing belt might have slipped. Saw a similar thing on a Sh***n once.

          engine noise

Just as a matter of interest, excess wear in the small or big end bearing can and usually does result in the piston hitting the cylinder head, hence the clanging noise when they go.
          Cheers Steve.
