Milage and a noise

Hi
I now have my surf for just over a month and I was just curious on two points.
First what is the average MPG? I get between 19 & 23 MPG. Is this good?
Secondly on a right lock of the steering I get a heavy creaking sound. Has anyone experienced this before>

Any info would be helpful.

i get about 23p/g in my 2.4 and it is probably your steering stops that need some grease on them if you do a search there are some diagrams to show where the stops are

19-23 is a touch low, but not to bad.

Creaking sound at full lock is where the steering arms are pressing on the bump stops - the rubber bumpers have worn away.
Stick a bib blob of copper grease down there and it should fix the problem.

I've had this problem for years, I've got the grease in the garage, I still haven't sorted it out.

MPG depends on how you drive, if you drive like you have Miss Daisy in back you should get arount 28 mpg on a run.

Use the search button, try "clunk", mine does the same and I still have'nt sorted it.

How many more creakers....dry metal to dry metal is not good...get out the grease - two little dabs...5 minutes including cuppa....cumon you guys and girls dont neglect your trucks....you will be amaised at the differance
please do it before my spelling degrades even fuuurthuuur

Oh good, the wife will be happy that I can solve the creaking problem, 'cause at the moment it scares the be-Jesus out of her when I lock.

Milage appears to be average for a 3.0L. Good to know, but Ouch on the wallet!
