heater matrix general

just been reading all the various threads on heater matrix and water leaks and things,the matrix prob seems quite common .the more threads you read about probs with surfs the more paraniod one becomes ,anyway if one was to have a dodjey matrix when it goes would it drip on to the carpets.,making them wet or does it run down the back of the bulkhead and wet the floof underneath the carpets?.the matrix is situated in the dashboard is it?

When i bought my car, didn't notice that floor was wet under the mats until after a few days. Hate to say, that on a 2nd gen, its quite a job to change.
