  • Unsure..........Need help

Right, the b'stards have decided to make me redundant. This poses a small but worrying problem.

Looks like I'll have to go self employed again and now I have no company van I need to sort out transport.

    Do I:

    a) Sell surf and buy a van
    b) Keep surf as van but buy a car (something fast and Jap)
    c) Keep surf as van and buy another surf as a car
    d) Sell surf buy a van and a car (again something fast and Jap)
    e) Sell surf and blow the money on loose women and booze
    I NEED TO OFFROAD!

          You know it makes sence!

Then, if you have 2 surfs, you might be able keep one running long enough to use it for a bit.

I have recently bought a 1987 1st gen. surf to use as my work vehicle. This was to replace a 1986 Mk.2 pick-up. The early surfs were built on the pick-up body and chassis, with a quality removable fibre-glass canopy and leaf-springs to the rear. For a little cash difference I can keep my tools dry, have a more comfortable ride with the comforts of electric windows, mirrors etc.
It was also a straight swap for my insurance policy.

My advice is self-employed people spend a lot of time in or with their vehicles, so you may as well be comfortable!

If you can afford to run two surf`s then go for it. I have a small car as back-up but prefer to use my truck all the time. A trailer will help protect your interior by carting big, dirty loads. Two carpet protector rolls from Focus fit in the back perfectly with enough to roll over the tail-gate.
            cheers,
            chris

If Danno can find a 1st gen, his current 2nd should be the works van, as the 1st gen will be a much better offroad tool (if he can get one with leafs all round especially) and the offroader will always be covered in mud and being straightened out!!!

The thought of Danno in a technically complex car like the Skyline is a truly terrifying one, he would never get off the garage forecourt!
Could you immagine Danno slowing for speed bumps?

I think a two surf option is a good one!
after selling everything and blowing it on wine women and song!
