V5c query

Just received my V5c from those efficient folks in Swansea , and the fuel type is recorded as "Heavy Oil".

Now I may be being a little paranoid here, but I thought Heavy Oil was the stuff that ships and steam boilers ran on. Surely the fuel type should be diesel or DERV?

Anyone else got this on their V5? Don't want to go through the pain of ringing DVLA if I can avoid it...

Don't panic, thats technical speak for Diesel!

think it's cos diesel is the type of engine, not the fuel... a bit like vacuum / hoover... of course i could be absolutely talking out my poopy hole!

Heavy oil

It all depends on who you speak to, Heavy Oil is indeed what is used in some big boilers and on ships " diesel " engines where they actually use something much heavier and blacker than what we call diesel, and actually call it Heavy Fuel Oil. They would call what we know as diesel " gas oil" or " marine gas oil " I suppose diesel can be many things to many people just as heavy oil can be many things to many people. I think all the DVLA are saying is that its not petrol and its not LPG and for whatever reason , they didnt like the word diesel. Dont worry about it just keep on truckin
