        Its OK.

They replace the side steps, with bars that are stronger so you SLIDE over rocks on them, instead of bending your side steps or sills and doors.

Plus you can Hi-lift on them if you build them properly

Now you'll be asked to explain what a Hi-Lift is ......

Right, the water pipe is 2" galvanised thick wall steel tube. Approx 3mm thick wall.

Now as its water pipe, you can get ready made 'T's and swept bends for it. I'd like to hire a bender and make it nice and smooth etc, but they are expensive and a threader is a cheaper option (especially when I have a mate who is a pipe fitter). So its gonna be threaded together then welded up to strengthen it.

All I'll have to do is make the chassis mounting plates to weld to the pipe and bolt them on. I want to bolt rather then weld on so they can be removed if (although doubtful) they get bent.

I'll put some pics of the fittings up later and I'll do a full build and design write up when I come to making them.

Prob going to use 2 swept bends on the ends of the main pipe, with one or possibly 2 T's along its length for strength, But as I wont actually be sliding over boulders then one probably sufficient.

These will then have short lengths of tube running to the chassis with large 3mm plates on the end with 4 M10 bolts to fix to the chassis.

It'll probably run inline with the outer edge of the wheelarches.

I might get really excited and fold a bit of ally chequer plate over the top so I dont slide of the pipe and smack my shins when muddy!
