you still driving the truck around? i was under the impression that the rear axel was of the "semi floating" design (axel shaft take vehicle weight as well as providing power) and that depending on where abouts the shaft breaks the wheel and brake drum can work their way outboard, ie fall off!
i stand to be corrected if this isn't the case, just my understanding of the design.Diesel, like petrol only better

But, if one shaft is broken, you won't be going anywhere as the diff will drive the side least resistance, ie, the broken side.

I'd still like to know how it's broken, that is the strongest part of the drivetrain, people run SB Chevys through that rear end with no problems!!!
